Asian/Asian American Composers in Film
There is a lot between the notes, and even more behind the scenes.
Huang Ruo was born in Hainan Island, China. He received both traditional and Western education at the Shangai Conservatory of Music. This has affected his compositional style in that he wishes to create a sound that is unified between both East and Western traditions, sonically. As a composer, he sticks a lot to the avant-garde realm of things, and has not done a lot of work in film. However, Ruo is a notable figure in the composer community, and has the potential to have great presence in the world of film when the opportunity comes his way.
